I would like to thank my two thesis advisors,
Dr. Hsien-Chin Liou and Dr. Yuli Yeh,
who have spent time and efforts helping me complete my thesis.
Through numerous meetings with them,
I learned how to do academic works and also how to be a graduate student.
I also want to thank them for enduring and revising my poor writing.
Without their patience and guidance,
I could not have completed the thesis and made up my mind for academic future.
I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Johanna E. Katchen,
who is my committee member and also my mentor in Tsing Hua.
From all her courses,
I established a basic ground for my future English learning.
She is always treating me as her own boy and taking care of me
through the years in Tsing Hua.
I also want to thank another committee member,
Dr. Hao-Jan Chen,
who has provided valuable comments and insightful suggestions for my thesis.
